Analysis
The composition of this photograph is bent. All the lines in this photograph curve to the right. The rider seems to be coming away from the leading lines. This gives a sense of excitement. The photographer has used an extended depth of field in this photograph. This make the viewer look at the rider then look at the background following the leading lines. The angle that the photograph was taken was above the rider. The angle and the fact the rider is leaning backwards to slide the longboard round the corner gives the viewer the perspective that the rider is really low. The photograph is made to seem fun because of the contrasting colours. The red bar stands out from the dark background and contrasts with the riders blue coat. The mix of the colours give off a hectic feel in the photograph.
My response

This is my response to Jon Huey. I was experimenting with a fisheye lens when I took this photograph. I know that the rider's arm and face aren't fully in focus but Huey's work is often not it full focus giving of the sense of movement. When I took this photograph the only lighting I used was the flash on the camera. I had to do this because it was to dark even when upping the aperture. Another reason I had to use the flash was because of the fast shutter speed. I used a high shutter speed to capture the rider in mid air and in almost full focus. This means the shutter isn't open for long and doesn't let as much light in, using the flash meant I could up the shutter speed and the photograph wouldn't be to dark. This photograph was taken from below. I did this to try and get the bottom of the board in the photograph, I attempted to do this so that the board would stand out from the black background. The photograph has some quite contrasting colours, the blue and red from the board really stand out, the white pillar really stands out, and the purple laces on the left shoe of the rider stick out, even though the background is dark I would say the photograph is quite contrasting. If I was to do this photograph again I would make sure it is lighter so I can use a higher shutter speed, however I do like that the arm and face of the rider are blurry.
